You know, I'm. Very. Pleasure for me to talk to you today.
[00:02:22] Speaker B: Yeah, Great. Awesome. Great to have you here. Anything you want to share with us about either yourself or your time here at the parish? Whatever you want.
[00:02:30] Speaker C: Oh, I want to tell you that I have been at the parish for two months already.
I really Appreciate it in my life because, you know, you have a good pastor for the great Mercury and. And your community. Very friendly and lovely.
They treat me well.
And I want to tell you that I have become the deacon for just almost three weeks, and I really appreciate all your prayer for me and for sure that I will always keep you in my prayers.
Yeah, that's everything I want to share about myself. Yeah.
[00:03:09] Speaker B: Amazing. Deacon Peter, we're so glad.
[00:03:11] Speaker C: No problem.
[00:03:11] Speaker B: Great. Great.
[00:03:12] Speaker A: And you're going back to your final year of formation now?
[00:03:15] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:03:16] Speaker A: Excellent.
[00:03:17] Speaker C: Yeah, it will be in September. I will be back to seminary to study my final year.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: There we go.
[00:03:23] Speaker A: Excellent. All right.
[00:03:24] Speaker B: God willing. Priest in early May.
[00:03:25] Speaker A: Excellent. Oh, that's going to be wonderful. We look forward to hearing you again and to meeting you again.

[00:03:38] Speaker A: So let's reveal our saint of the week.
[00:03:39] Speaker B: Whoa. Saint of the week. Reveal. Reveal, Reveal.
[00:03:41] Speaker A: So each. Each week we feature a saint or several and share some facts about their lives as we strive to live with our mission. As Catholics, we can always look to our saints for inspiration.
This week, St. Thomas the Apostle, also called Didymus, also known as the Twin. He appears in John's Gospel with frank questions and profound faith. Best known for many things. One, urging the disciples to go with Jesus to Bethany, despite all of the danger, you know, saying, let us also go that we may die with him.
He also doubted the resurrection, of course, most famously until he saw Jesus wounds.
I did hear a magnificent story.
Magnificent. How about a magnificent story?
[00:04:20] Speaker B: Whoa.
[00:04:21] Speaker A: Let's go to that one.
That he missed the first appearance because although the others were up in the second floor worried and fearful, he was out in the community bravely getting food and gathering resources.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: So he was the real deal.
[00:04:36] Speaker A: He was the real deal. So showing some bravery in a great time.
[00:04:40] Speaker B: That's an interesting thought.
[00:04:41] Speaker A: So.
[00:04:41] Speaker B: Or maybe he was just hiding somewhere else.
[00:04:43] Speaker A: Or maybe he was in a different closet.
[00:04:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:04:47] Speaker A: His witness later spread through missionary tradition, including in India, and ended in martyrdom, of course.
And a couple of famous quotes. My Lord and my God as an incredible profession.
And I think around that same time, he may have said, jesus, I trust
[00:05:04] Speaker B: in you, probably at some point.
Amazing.
[00:05:07] Speaker A: Oh, gosh. Anything else on St. Thomas the Apostle?
All right, here we go. So it's time for Ask Father Greg. Each week we respond to a question submitted by a listener or one that we make up ourselves or newly one that submitted into our suggestion or question box to the parish improvement team.
Parishioners are encouraged to send us their comments or suggestions in the box, and we will prayerfully discern them as the parish improvement team and either get back to the individual or maybe Father may share it through the bulletin or a homily.
And we've been asked so far about Bible study, how we don't run out of prayers ever.
We've even been given suggestions on hymns.
My question this week is based on a recent submission, though.
What is a healing Mass? And could they return to Immaculate Heart of Mary?
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Yeah, great question. First off, healing Masses. Yeah, they're great. We'd love to have them.
So Father Bill was well known for having monthly, I believe, healing Masses here. Every Mass in its own way is a healing Mass. Jesus wants to heal us. We pray for healing actually multiple times each Mass.
But a healing Mass is kind of a phrase that describes a Mass that is even more emphasized on asking for healing. So asking for spiritual healing, bodily healing.
So sometimes there are special prayers that could be done before or after this. A bit of flexibility there. They can come back. Yeah. If you want them, they gotta. Yeah, let us know. We'll do it.
[00:06:33] Speaker A: Okay. So that was one of the requests from the.
From the box and we'll take that to the panel.
[00:06:37] Speaker B: And V still has them going on, by the way.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: Ah, excellent.
So it's time for our resource of the week. Now this week like to feature a spiritual guide called Magnificat, which is new to me. I only learned about it on our pilgrimage as I was struggling with the Living with Christ app and trying to get connectivity to follow with a daily Mass. A couple on the pilgrimage had the Magnificat and they allowed me to look at it and it's what a great resource it has. Daily Masses, it has the flow of the Mass. It also has morning prayer, evening prayer, daily meditations, and saints.
Each month focuses on a different category of saints as far as I have figured out so far. And this month it's saints who have taught us about prayer and this. Today they were featuring St. Benedict.
[00:07:26] Speaker B: I see this.
[00:07:26] Speaker A: So it's. Yeah.
[00:07:27] Speaker B: Beautiful, man. This Magnificat. You could almost say it's magnificent.
Wow.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: Love it. Well done. Well done, Father.
Well, we are back into ordinary time now.
Just crushing it as we always do.
And how do we keep our spiritual life fresh during the summer?
[00:07:48] Speaker B: Hmm.
Well, I think every day, praying from your heart every day. Our life is different every day. Right. And so just by continuing to engage our Lord in our hearts, talked about what's really going on in our life, our ups and downs, obviously the time tested traditions of faith, the rosary, scripture reading, learning more about the saints, spiritual classics. Right. Good to have some spiritual reading on the go at any time. Come to visit our adoration chapel, hang out with other people who want to get closer to Jesus also. All these things can help. Obviously going to Mass every week is a huge part of that confession. Regularly too, can kind of keep that new grace and that new strength coming.
[00:08:26] Speaker A: And so if people are away, maybe finding a Mass nearby in a community that they're still in and not sort of take the summer off from our obligations.
[00:08:34] Speaker B: Yeah, we will never want to take our faith off. Right. So if you're going on a trip, we want to prayerfully ask the Lord to guide us and help us to make plans. So we can still go to Mass every Sunday. If it happens a year somewhere and it's totally impossible, what a good thing to do is to go to the pastor beforehand and ask for a dispensation from your Sunday obligation before you go.
[00:08:50] Speaker A: Oh, brilliant. I hadn't thought of that. I'm learning so much on this show. That's excellent. Yeah. And although some of the parish life quiets down, it's still really important for us to maintain and keep supercharging our faith.
[00:09:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, Excellent.
[00:09:04] Speaker A: Well, there is so much happening in our community, Father. Our parishioners of course, can check out the bulletin as it comes out every week and check the website. There's some amazing opportunities coming up. I hear there are plans for a big shindig on August 23rd.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: Here. There is a shindig. Indeed. That's a great phrase. August 23rd. If you want to have a delicious barbecue meal, hang out with awesome people and just have a blessed time, you should come to our parish barbecue. August 23rd, Sunday at noon. So if you come for the 11am Mass, you can just stay after.
Or if you're coming to any other Masses, just show up here for about noon because that is when we'll be starting this amazing shindig, which includes all sorts of fun things and especially barbecue foods and just a great group of people. So come enjoy, meet some new friends, hang out with old friends like me and have a great time. I've been really old friend.
[00:09:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:57] Speaker B: I'm so old, man. Well, been here for like three years, bro.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: Three years now.
[00:10:00] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm 37 right now, like for like
[00:10:04] Speaker A: three more days though.
[00:10:05] Speaker C: That's.
[00:10:05] Speaker B: Oh, don't tell everyone. Don't tell anyone.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: Not going to tell everyone. On July 11th. It's Father's birthday.
[00:10:09] Speaker B: Whoa.
I did not tell you to say that.
Can we edit that out? That doesn't need to be in there.
[00:10:15] Speaker A: Oh, golly. So, yeah. So extend birthday wishes to Father this week as you can and keep him in your prayers as always.
[00:10:21] Speaker B: I always take prayers. Thank you so much.

We thank you for the gift of our relationship with you, that no matter what we're going through, you understand us, you care for us, you walk with us, and you desire to be a source of healing, strength, and comfort. Give us the faith, that faith that St. Thomas the Apostle had when he saw you risen and glorious, so that we may respond to you in our daily prayer life and continue to follow you ever more faithfully using the various resources you give us and walking together as part of our parish community.
Bless us and our listeners and anoint us with your Holy Spirit. We ask this in Jesus name, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
